GPR Concrete Scanning

Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to “image” the subsurface. This nondestructive method uses electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band (UHF/VHF frequencies) of the radio spectrum, and detects the reflected signals from the subsurface structures.

GPR concrte scanning is becoming more familiar in the construction industry as a valuable and necessary tool. Prior to GPR, X-Ray was the only means of “looking” through concrete to identify structures. GPR is a safe, quick, and effective method that allows customers to scan concrete and locate buried structures such as rebar, post-tension cables, and conduits.

Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling now provides GPR concrete scanning service so that our customers can scan and located buried structures before making any cuts or holes. This accurate, non-invasive technology is producing enormous savings in construction, engineering, and maintenance.

Applications for GPR

  • Post-tension cable locating.
  • Void and sink hole locating.
  • Rebar and conduit locating.
